    P3D V4 water question

Post by ddavid on Sat Jul 07, 2018 6:07 pm

Hi All - just have a look at these images:

    and

They both show wave effects on the hulls of the submersible and boat. Is this effect a feature of P3D and have you any idea what imact it may have on FPS?

    Thanks for your advice!

    Cheers - Dai. Cool

In answer to your question David I dont honestly know if you can control the wave effects in P3D v4.3.

I tested at different wind speeds but didnt see much of a change.

I have attached photos to show my tests.

Thanks, Mike Looks like FSX on max water effect setting. No waves along float or hull.

I was really questioning whether P3D V4 had the sort of wave structure shown in what maybe mythical promotional screen shots.

I know that DCS has brilliant wave effects, which also contributes to ship motion physics, but I didn't think P3D had got that far...

In xp you have full control over wave height and direction, I did on one occasion, having found the aircraft carrier, set the waves to 15 feet, and then attempted to land on a pitching deck--- most interesting , and bloody difficult!!

Waves in P3D? Well, here are a couple of videos (not mine!!):

    1. Showing an aircraft carrier and a small amphibian in quite big seas:

    2. Showing 3 different wind speed/weather combos (Accusim 2) and the effect on a small float-plane:

Both show dynamic waves of differing sizes, which look quite good visibly, but which have little apparent effect on the aircraft. As Alert Einstein would say: "WTF?"

Anyone out there have any experience with P3D V4.x and waves?

    Cheers - Dai. Cool
